John, so much is on the line this midterm election year. Gun violence is rising, abortion rights are diminishing, and working families are struggling to keep up with the basic costs of living.
It’s becoming clear that if we are truly going to lift up the working class, we need to elect bold progressives —
up and down the ballot. We need state leaders who fight will for us where the federal government has fallen short.
Someone like Bria Bennett, our brand new endorsement, who is running to represent Ohio’s 64th State House District!
Bria is a community organizer who has always advocated for the underrepresented and the left-behind. She is running to uplift the forgotten voices of her district because she understands the everyday challenges that working-class people face, and she recognizes that not everyone is born with or is granted the same basic privileges, including access to grocery stores, quality education, and affordable healthcare. Bria knows firsthand what it’s like to struggle while trying to make ends meet, so she’s committed to increasing the minimum wage and building equitable opportunities for ALL Ohioans to succeed.
As a baby, Bria was born addicted to crack, making it difficult for her to get adopted. Fortunately, at 5 months old, her loving parents welcomed her into their family, and she has not taken it for granted a single day since. This backstory is such an important part of who Bria is and what drives her to fiercely protect and support working families.
And with the devastating fall of Roe last week, it’s more urgent than ever that we elect fearless pro-choice leaders like Bria to state office — not only to protect what’s left of our reproductive freedoms, but also to provide support for those forced into pregnancy as a result of abortion restrictions.
Bria is committed to championing abortion access as well as strengthening our foster care and adoption programs and providing adequate childcare support systems. She will fight for improved prenatal care, eliminating birthing deserts, paid family leave, universal pre-k, child tax credits, gun reforms, and more to keep our children safe and provided for.
But like all of our working-class candidates, Bria lacks the financial resources and political advantages that have historically kept status quo out-of-touch leaders in power. As a low-income Black woman, she isn’t coming to the table with wealthy donors or elitist connections.
Instead, she’s relying on us to help her break barriers so that she can make a difference for those in her community.
In this time of crisis, we need to elect working-class progressives like Bria at every level of public office, and we can’t do it without you. Rush a contribution now to help us provide Bria and candidates like her with the necessary campaign resources to win >>
Together, we can elect change.
