John, Fred Guttenberg here - Parkland dad.

Lucy has an end-of-quarter deadline coming up tomorrow night at midnight. It’s incredibly important that we support her campaign before deadlines like this. [[link removed]] Before you click away, let me explain why:

As a victim of gun violence – my daughter Jaime was killed in the Parkland shooting – I became a gun safety advocate and met Lucy when I became frustrated that Congress refused to act and pass any meaningful reform in 2018. Now, in 2022 – I am surprised and hopeful that we’ve taken a step in the right direction, thanks to Lucy’s leadership on this issue.

Last weekend, the Senate finally voted to pass the first major gun safety reforms out of Congress since 1994 – and there is no doubt in our mind that without Lucy in Congress, we would not have achieved this victory against the NRA. By getting 15 Republican senators on board, Democrats were able to break the Senate filibuster and pass critical common-sense gun safety reforms.

The legislation includes increased background checks for gun buyers under age 21, plus $750 million in funding for mental health programs and the implementation of red flag laws. It also closes the “boyfriend loophole,” stopping domestic abusers from being able to purchase guns. The bill was quickly ratified by the House and signed into law by President Biden on Saturday.

As a victim of gun violence, Lucy led the way in passing this legislation, and she has told Jordan’s story far and wide behind the scenes in Washington ever since her being sworn into Congress in January 2019. There is no doubt that all of the advocacy Lucy has done over the last decade played a critical role in the passage of this bill.

This was an important step for our gun safety movement in our ultimate fight to keep American families safe and reduce the too many gun deaths per day in this country. Our fight to pass common-sense gun safety reforms in Washington and in all 50 states around the country will be buoyed by this landmark win in Washington, and we must press forward to continue to fight against the NRA for even stronger reforms.

That’s why we simply must keep Lucy in Congress leading our gun safety fight.

John, Lucy has an end-of-quarter fundraising deadline coming up tomorrow night at midnight. If you can pitch in any amount, we’re still trying to raise another $10,550 before then to keep our campaign in a strong position → [[link removed]]
