June 26, 2022

Dear Georgian,

There is no disputing that life begins at conception, and on Friday the Supreme Court protected the sanctity of life for future generations by overturning Roe v. Wade.

In other news, border security is national security, and I am concerned by the administration's failure to take this crisis seriously.

Since Biden took office, over 2.9 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border. Fifty of those people apprehended were on the Terrorist Screening Database.

May was the 15th straight month of encounters with over 150,000 people. This chaos has made it easier for criminals to smuggle deadly drugs like fentanyl into our country, and CBP has seized over 1 million pounds of illegal drugs this year alone.

I am working with my colleagues to urge this administration to stop their dangerous open border policies and work to restore border security.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on Twitter.

Sincerely,

Passing FY23 NDAA through HASC

After more than 15 hours and sorting through hundreds of amendments, the House Armed Services Committee passed the FY23 NDAA by a vote of 57-1. This year's bill is certainly not perfect, but we accomplished many important goals for Georgia's Eighth District, our entire state, and the nation. I was proud to support a bipartisan amendment to increase the defense budget by $37 billion. My colleagues and I worked bipartisanly to ensure our warfighters get the platforms and funding they need to defend our great nation. We, as a committee, must ensure our armed forces remain vigilant to provide firepower for freedom if called upon to do so.

Denouncing Violence Against Religious Institutions

In the aftermath of the SCOTUS leak, acts of violence and vandalism have been committed against religious institutions and pregnancy centers by pro-abortion activists. These acts of domestic terrorism are being ignored by both the left and the mainstream media. The violence must stop, so I cosponsored a resolution denouncing these acts of violence.

Additionally, the resolution encourages the Department of Justice and FBI to investigate and prosecute all domestic terrorists targeting churches and essential pregnancy centers.

First Listening Session for 2023 Farm Bill

On Saturday, the House Agriculture Committee held its first listening session for the 2023 Farm Bill. With supply chain issues, rising input costs, and shortages in the global food supply, it is critical that we gather input from all stakeholders in order to write a bill that meets the needs of American agriculture.

If you work to help feed or clothe our nation, please contact my office to share your perspective. We would love to hear from you.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution | U.S. House subcommittee rejects Biden plan to close Savannah military facility

"A U.S. House Appropriations subcommittee said it will not move forward in closing a military facility in Savannah that has been the subject of an intense lobbying effort by Georgia’s congressional delegation.

Closure of the Combat Readiness Training Center in Savannah was part of the proposed budget President Joe Biden put forward in March. U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, the Republican whose district includes the facility, said Monday that the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense has issued a report saying it has denied that request."

13WMAZ | Georgia leaders weigh in on Roe v. Wade ruling

"A landmark Supreme Court decision was handed down on Friday morning, overturning Roe v. Wade. The decision ends nearly 50 years of federally guaranteed access to abortion.

The ruling came after the leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito, indicating the court was prepared to take this step back in early May."
