For weeks now, we've known that the Supreme Court was poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, but seeing the decision in print is still devastating and infuriating. We know that by issuing this ruling on the Dobbs v. Jackson case, SCOTUS has effectively turned back the clock on reproductive rights and put millions of lives in danger.
For decades, extremist conservatives have been mounting an insidious campaign to control the bodies of people who can get pregnant and return our country to the time of back-alley abortions and forced pregnancies. Donald Trump and the Treason Caucus have created the reality we are living today and it is because of them that reproductive rights are no longer protected on a federal level.
But the fight does not end here, John. This situation has shown us that voting and electing the right leaders for our country is crucial for our democracy. Now is the moment to take our righteous fury and convert it into collective action. To elect and call on leaders who will protect and defend our rights, not corrupt politicians who promote cruel and anti-science agendas.
We remain steadfast in the fight for a democracy that serves EVERYONE and where everyone has access to human rights like basic healthcare – including abortion.
