john,
In light of today’s news, I want to be crystal clear — I wholeheartedly condemn the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v Wade.
Today’s ruling is a tremendous setback for womens’ rights, healthcare, and freedom in America that will deny people across the country their right to determine for themselves what happens to their bodies.
In states like Texas with trigger laws making abortion illegal in the absence of Roe v Wade, we are looking at the end of safe, legal abortion in our state within 30 days.
john, this is an outrage. People in TX-23 and across the country deserve to get the healthcare that they need, whether that’s an abortion or antibiotics.
That’s why right now I am asking you to make a donation to Texas Equal Access Fund and then to this campaign. A moment like this calls for a clear response — we need to make sure that we are empowering those people on the ground who are most affected AND ensure that we are electing officials who will fight for the rights of ALL Texans in Congress.

Today’s ruling has made it clear that we cannot count on the Supreme Court to protect our rights. And we have long known that we cannot count on Texas Republicans.
Like President Biden said, Roe is on the ballot this November. We must all stand up and vote against candidates that threaten the life, liberty, and happiness of Texans everywhere — whether that’s women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, or disabled folks, y’all means all.
When I am elected to Congress, I promise you I will oppose any attempt to erase generations of progress and obstructions to the advancement of women’s reproductive healthcare in the U.S.
That means I will vote to protect a woman's right to choose, to increase investments in women’s health, and fight to ensure local access to medical clinics and professionals, including Planned Parenthood, that can provide essential reproductive healthcare services.
In the meantime, make a donation to this campaign and then to Texas Equal Access Fund, so we can protect abortion access from on the ground today and tomorrow, in Congress.
Let’s get to work,
John Lira
