Friend,

Far from being a conservative bench, the decisions emerging from the Roberts Court are increasingly radical intrusions into liberty, privacy, and agency. Today’s decision goes far beyond the difficult and painful subject of abortion and must be seen as part of a larger movement to take rights away from the American people.

Authoritarian movements always tell you what’s coming, if you’ll listen. The Ultra-MAGA movement is clear what’s next in their war on individual rights; Miranda, birth control, gay marriage, voting rights, and free and fair elections. What they can’t win in Congress and the Senate, they’ll rely on the Roberts Court to execute.

In their Senate confirmation hearings, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch all asserted that Roe v Wade was settled law. It’s clear now these three justices lied to the American people during their confirmations. Their statements fit any common-sense definition of perjury.

The prospect of Trump-DeSantis judges being confirmed by the United States Senate in 2025 and beyond should put the 2022 races in a sharper contrast for any American who cares about individual liberty.

Too many Americans are sleepwalking through a slow-motion dissolution of rights and freedoms as a framework of authoritarian power emerges where governments exercise profound control over the lives of its citizens.

It is our continued mission to take on this authoritarian movement through building the largest pro-democracy coalition in our country’s history and taking the fight directly to those who are trying to tear down our liberties and our democracy.

Thank you for keeping us in this fight.
