Washington, D.C. – Today's Supreme Court decision was a momentous step for the rights of the unborn and the sanctity of life. Roe v. Wade was an unconstitutional decision in 1973 and today’s ruling has finally put right a decision that has cost the lives of millions. It has been the goal of our party to send this decision back to the states where it belongs, and I look forward to a rightful return to federalism, a constitutionally loyal Supreme Court, and the millions of lives that will be saved as a result. I voted against the Senate Gun Control Act today. We make decisions every day to either uphold our constitutional liberties or whittle them away. While this bill has much to support, and I believe many of its supporters have good intentions, the vague provisions, concerns about due process, and red flag law funding make it impossible for me to support. On Thursday, I introduced legislation to strengthen enforcement of the Passport Denial Program. H.R. 8193 – The Ensuring Children Receive Support Act – requires the Secretary of State to revoke any U.S. passport issued to an individual exceeding $2,500 in outstanding child support payments. This is a commonsense bill that will go a long way in safeguarding innocent children from neglect. I am proud to bring pragmatic solutions to Texas-24 and better support our next generation. You can read more on my bill here. Along with Reps. Larry Bucshon and Greg Murphy, I authored an Op-ed in the Washington Examiner on our plan to get Washington, D.C. out of the doctor's office. You can read the full Op-ed here. On Wednesday, I participated in a House Small Business Committee hearing where I discussed the decreasing amount of small businesses contracting with the federal government due to burdensome regulations. You can watch my remarks here. I enjoyed meeting with the National Association of Convenience Stores on Thursday, where we discussed rising consumer costs as credit card companies have recently raised swipe fees. Rep.
