Like the majority of Americans, I firmly believe that a woman should control and determine her own reproductive journey and every woman has the right to full body autonomy. I stand firm in the belief that any medical decisions should be made privately between a woman and her doctor. My foundational and unwavering belief is that women’s rights are human rights. |
Today’s Supreme Court decision on Dobbs which also overturns Roe v. Wade is disappointing and has rolled back 50 years of settled law that a woman has the right to make decisions regarding her own body.
Because of the 2007 trigger law, this decision will almost immediately cause women in Mississippi to lose abortion access.
I understand that we exist in a political landscape and culture that ties in religious beliefs and communal values on a woman's reproductive journey. However, our country’s Constitution is predicated on the separation of church and state.
