John,
In response to the gun violence crisis in our country—including the recent tragedies in Buffalo, NY and Uvalde, TX—the Senate is poised to vote soon on a bipartisan bill that provides critical funding for gun safety, mental health, and school safety.
The bill would represent the most significant gun safety legislation to pass the Senate in almost three decades.
And this development is a big deal for our movement too, John. The freedom to decide if, when, and how to start or grow our families includes the freedom from fear of losing a child or a loved one to gun violence.
There is no such thing as reproductive freedom when our children and our communities are under the constant threat of gun violence.
Send your senators a message now to tell them to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act without delay.

There is good reason to be optimistic about this bill’s chances. Leaders in the Senate have worked to craft legislation targeting some of the core issues involved in our country’s gun violence epidemic, including:
- Funding the implementation and establishment of state-based extreme risk protection orders (also known as “red flag laws”);
- Addressing the dating and intimate partner loophole that leaves victims of abuse vulnerable to injury and death by an armed domestic abuser;
- Funding community violence intervention programs that are proven to reduce violence by delivering comprehensive services to individuals at the highest risk of engaging in or being victimized by interpersonal violence; and
- Requiring enhanced background checks for people under 21 to buy long guns.
These are substantial, meaningful measures that will help save lives. It is imperative that our senators hear from us.
Send a message to your senators right now. Let’s make it clear that we expect them to pass this bill right away.
Thanks for speaking out. Our fight for reproductive freedom includes the fight to end gun violence, and we are so grateful for your support.
