Dear Friends,

Starting on Day One of his presidency, Joe Biden launched his attack on our American energy sector when he killed the Keystone XL pipeline – which could be supplying 830,000 thousand barrels per day of oil from Canada to U.S. refineries.

His policies have led us to $5 per gallon of gas, and as his self-inflicted energy crisis surges, the administration continues to pass the buck, now by blaming domestic energy producers. The facts are clear – this administration is currently sitting on over 4,400 pending Applications for Permits to Drill. Their regulatory and inflationary burdens are thwarting the creation of new large-scale refineries and their regulatory assault has destroyed any incentive for domestic energy producers to invest. Recently, Biden announced that his administration would no longer hold court-ordered offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.

One of Biden’s most recent proposals called for gas cards to be sent out to Americans. But does Biden plan to send all Americans a gas card, or just the folks that own a car? This pricey, and poorly targeted solution won’t fix this administration’s energy crisis. The solution is simple – restore American energy independence.

Gold Star Father's Day

Yesterday, I joined Congressman Hank Johnson in introducing legislation to designate November 9, 2022, as national “Gold Star Father’s Day.” We ask everything of our servicemembers, but we also ask a great deal of their loved ones. Gold Star family members carry on the legacy of these American heroes, and our nation is forever grateful for their immense strength and resilience. I am proud to support this bipartisan legislation to designate Gold Star Father’s Day so that we may ensure those who made the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered for generations.

Standing Up to Big Tech Censorship
Email services use algorithms to filter emails determined by the platform to be spam. When it comes to political emails, a study from N.C. State found that Google sent 70% of emails from Republicans to spam, while less than 1% of emails from Democrats received the same treatment.

Big Tech should not decide which political emails reach folks’ inboxes and which are sent to spam. This egregiously unfair practice of using algorithms to block conservative ideas – without the consumer’s knowledge or consent – is flat out wrong. I was proud to join my fellow Republicans in introducing the Political Bias in Algorithm Sorting Emails Act – or the Political BIAS Emails Act –  to put an end to these practices by Big Tech.

Committee Update

Last Wednesday, the House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing to discuss ways to help working women, families, and small businesses. The one thing that was heartbreaking to hear during the witnesses’ testimonies was just how much worse it has been for women in the workforce under the Biden Administration. Whether it's food, fuel, or childcare expenses, the crushing cost of inflation is hurting every single American – and this hearing highlighted that fact.
