Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the most significant case on gun safety in over a decade. At issue is a New York City regulation on transporting firearms outside one's home. And it has implications for gun safety all across the country.

With a right-wing majority that espouses extremist views well outside of the mainstream, the Court could rule against the ability of state and local governments to enact common-sense gun safety measures. And at a time when the NRA and Mitch McConnell are blocking federal gun safety legislation from getting a vote, this would be devastating.

Julie's said it before: gun violence in America is a public health crisis. Our gun death rate is 10 times higher than in other high-income countries. It affects every American community -- from rural suicides, to communities of color, to movie theaters, concerts, synagogues, churches, and Walmarts.

We can’t let Trump’s Supreme Court block state and local governments from taking steps to address this public health crisis. It will cost lives.

We need to speak up loudly to make it clear to the NRA that we've had enough, and that they don't own the conversation on guns in America anymore. We need the Supreme Court to hear from the people whose lives will be impacted by their ruling.
