Dear John,

Power Shift Network and youth justice activists are fighting for a thriving future and we need you to invest in that future with us today, on Giving Tuesday.

My name is Victoria Hsieh and I am a high school student from Seattle, WA (that's me up there in the white sweater). I have had the privilege of bringing my experiences and skills to Power Shift ‘21 planning as a stipended member of the Steering Committee. I am asking you to support the planning of the Power Shift 2021 Convergence with our partners at Patagonia, who will match each contribution made up to $10,000 (per donation), as we work to build livable and just communities for all.

Power Shift ‘21 will bring together thousands of young people to learn skills to mitigate pending climate catastrophe through three days of trainings, workshops, panels, and action within the first 100 days of the next presidential inauguration. Please help me and my Planning Committee colleagues continue to do this work by making a contribution to support our efforts as we plan this exciting convergence to train other young people like me.

Although I’ve only worked with the team for a few months, planning Power Shift ‘21 has led me to witness the incredible dynamics in climate spaces across the country and brought me out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned so much information on both the climate crisis’ impacts but also the importance of having a great capacity for empathy. Not only have I gained a group of wonderful activists to have conversations with, but I’ve also gained skills related to outreach and fundraising (and I could really use your help here!)

My fellow activists have encouraged me to play many roles within the movement, inspiring me to pursue sustainability as part of my future career. Power Shift 2021 will be the place for youth like me to receive the training and build the connections needed to take our respective movements to the next level. Young people are building the future, and we are asking you to partner with us by contributing to PSN during this holiday season and share this message with your friends and family!
