Hi Friend !

Juneteenth, our country’s second independence day, celebrates Black culture and resistance, Black joy and triumph, and Black liberation.

Today, we come together in celebration, even as we recognize there is so much work to do in the fight for justice. Come together as neighbors for our local Juneteenth Jubilee at First Baptist Church at 100-10 Astoria Blvd in East Elmhurst for day two of honoring essential workers who kept us fed and healthy throughout the pandemic.

There is a rich tradition of Black Liberation and community care in East Elmhurst and Corona, and our community’s resilience in the face of Covid-19 demonstrated what we already knew here in Queens: we keep us safe.

Today we come together again as a community—this time in joy and for live music and games for the whole family.
