Yesterday, the Committee revealed some truly horrifying information about the sinister events leading up to the insurrection on January 6. We've always known that the insurrection was the breaking point of a planned and executed plan to destroy our democracy, but new facts have come to light, revealing some key details about the attempted coup:
>Many members of Trump's campaign staff knew and repeatedly told Trump that the election had not been stolen. Despite their protests, he continued riling up his followers with new conspiracy theories every day.
>A grand total of $250 million was raised off of the BIG LIE in the aftermath of the 2020 election, with a giant sum of $150 million rolling in the first week. But {FirstName or 'team'}}, it gets worse. So. Much. Worse.
>The funds that were raised in an effort to overturn the election were not used to cover the litigation fees of election-based court battles like the fanatical fan base had been led to believe. This money was instead used to fund Trump's Super PAC, line the pockets of Trump loyalists like Mark Meadows, and even poured into Trump's very own hotel chain.
There is no doubt, January 6 was Trump's personal war to destroy our democracy and line the pockets of those who would follow him into corruption. His followers stormed the Capitol at his request, and the members of the Treason Caucus betrayed our country to please him. With more than 840 people facing charges ranging from sedition to criminal conspiracy, it's time for those at the top to face consequences and pay for their treasonous actions. And we are ready to take them on in the coming elections.
