** SUMMER HAPPENINGS
------------------------------------------------------------
Summer is almost here, and that means that our children are going to look for fun-filled and skill-building activities that can further develop their personhood.

MCN was proud to join the Yemeni American Merchant's Association's annual college fair on June 13th to showcase the work that we do for our youth. High school is a critical period of exploration and curiosity, and we hope that with our programs in developing civic leadership and creating summer internships for our youth, we're able to contribute in their journeys!

MCN hosted our MYNYC Civic Leadership program graduation on June 4th, 2022. We graduated 17 fellows from the program. In our last newsletter, we highlighted some of the incredible community projects they took upon.

We are so proud of our fellows for showing leadership in their communities and selecting topics that have meaning in their life.

MCN is continuing our efforts to protect our communities against hate. Yesterday, we hosted a self-defense workshop at James Madison High School, in Brooklyn for all the youth there. As hate continues to rise and Asian and Muslim families disproportionately face the brunt of it, it is only time that we are able to help where we can.

Finally, elections are upon us, and as part of the Our City Our Vote and APA Voice coalition, MCN is trying to make sure that Muslim voices are heard. Mark June 28th on your calendars as that is the day to vote for the New York State primaries. Below, are pictures of our Brooklyn Program Coordinator, Maryam Khaldi who is out and about trying to get our folks to vote! A big shout out to our volunteers who show up and help out!

And finally, our Interfaith Soup Kitchen is resuming in-person service! Many many thanks to our incredibly dedicated volunteers for showing up every 4th Saturday of the month to help prepare a hot meal for the neighbors!

MCN's programming and community services are made possible through generous donations from our community! We're proud to be recognized by Guidestar ([link removed]) and Charity Navigator's ([link removed]) good nonprofit status! These ratings demonstrate our commitment to transparency and accountability to our donors!

Therefore, please give with confidence to MCN. It is with your support that we can build a Muslim civil-society-based institution advancing the narrative for Muslim Americans.
Please consider a donation of $50, $100, $250 to help us continue building a Muslim institution that empowers our community!

With Gratitude,

Aniqa Nawabi
