There is a saying that goes “show me your friends and I’ll show you who you are,” which is the inspiration for our latest campaign. There are several Republican candidates running in battleground races who have been silent as their “friends” in Republican leadership spread dangerous and racist lies that endanger our communities. If you run with those who tell hurtful lies for their own benefit, it says a lot about you. 

At America’s Voice, we want to make sure you know not just the blatantly racist candidates that are running for office, but who their friends are as well. That is why I am thrilled to announce our new “Show Me Your Friends” political campaign! 

The “Show Me Your Friends / Dime Con Quién Andas” campaign is a bilingual effort that seeks to educate and hold Republican candidates accountable for the reckless extremism embraced by their leadership. Because the very first vote every Member of Congress takes is for leadership positions, and the current Republican leadership has attacked immigrants and spread dangerous conspiracy theories. Republican candidates can loudly reject the hateful lies of their Republican “friends” or they are complicit in attacks on our communities.

• See the six Republicans running in battleground districts that run along parts of the U.S. / Mexico border that we are initially focusing on and who they are connected with 
• Learn about the dangerous messages these Republicans and their allies are pushing
• Help us call them out by tweeting at them

The messages these Republican candidates are using in their campaigns are dangerous. Many are using the same language and ideas as the torch-wielding racists that killed peaceful protesters in Charlottesville in 2017 and that murdered groups of people in Pittsburgh in 2018, El Paso in 2019 and most recently in Buffalo. Even as these mass murderers have made it clear that racist ideas inspire them, Republican candidates and their friends have embraced these racist lies. 

This is the purpose of our new campaign - to make it clear who these Republican candidates are friends with because it matters.

We aim to hold these candidates accountable because unless Republicans actively and publicly stand up to their friends’ dangerous ideas, they too, are responsible for the racist and dangerous rhetoric that make our communities less safe.

Hay varios candidatos republicanos que participan en contiendas electorales que han permanecido en silencio, mientras que sus “amigos” en el liderazgo republicano propagan peligrosas y racistas mentiras que ponen en peligro a nuestras comunidades. Si te alineas con quienes dicen mentiras hirientes para su propio beneficio, eso dice mucho de ti.

En America's Voice queremos que te enteres no solamente de quiénes son los candidatos descaradamente racistas que participan en contiendas políticas, sino también quiénes son sus amigos. ¡Es por eso que me complace anunciar nuestra nueva campaña política “Dime Con Quién Andas”!

La campaña “Dime Con Quién Andas / Show Me Your Friends” es un esfuerzo bilingüe que busca informar y responsabilizar a los candidatos republicanos por el imprudente extremismo que su liderazgo ha abrazado. Porque el primer voto de cada Miembro del Congreso es para posiciones de liderazgo, y el actual liderazgo republicano ha atacado a los inmigrantes y propagado teorías conspirativas dañinas. Los candidatos republicanos pueden abiertamente rechazar las mentiras de odio de sus “amigos” republicanos; si no lo hacen, son cómplices de los ataques contra nuestras comunidades.

Los mensajes que esos candidatos republicanos están usando en sus campañas son peligrosos. Muchos están usando el mismo lenguaje e ideas que los racistas que con antorcha en mano mataron a manifestantes pacíficos en Charlottesville en 2017 y que asesinaron a grupos de personas en Pittsburgh en 2018, El Paso en 2019 y más recientemente en Buffalo. Aun cuando esos asesinos en serie han dejado en claro las ideas racistas que los inspiran, los candidatos republicanos y sus amigos han abrazado esas mismas mentiras racistas.

Este es el propósito de nuestra nueva campaña: dejar en claro quiénes son los amigos de esos candidatos republicanos, porque eso importa.
