Gun violence is the leading cause of death for America’s children, and it’s completely preventable.
On Wednesday, I was proud to cast my vote for the Protecting Our Kids Act – a gun reform package that will make our communities and schools safer by addressing loopholes that allow guns to fall into the wrong hands.
The next step is the Senate, and I urge my Democratic colleagues there to abolish the filibuster and pass this legislation.
Americans deserve to live without fear of violence in our schools, movie theaters, nightclubs, synagogues, churches, and mosques.
We cannot allow Republicans in Congress to continue to deflect, push failed policies, hide behind the filibuster, and block life-saving legislation.
We must raise our voices and fight back together.
