If you haven’t heard, the House Republicans in Ohio passed a bill to block transgender girls, age K-12, from playing on female sports teams.
It is called the “Save Women’s Sports Act” and claims if a participant's sex is questioned, she must verify her sex with a physician including the following:
- An exam of her internal and external reproductive anatomy.
- Her normal "endogenously produced levels of testosterone."
- An analysis of her genetic makeup.
This is horrifying.
B/E has been a tremendous community for transgender and non-binary candidates and staff. It’s something we take pride in; this community is for EVERYONE.
It sickens us deeply to know that right in our home state, bills like this are being introduced and passed.
John, they are terrorizing our children, stripping them of any normalcy they can have in school and at home. Why are outdated, bigoted politicians deciding what our children can do, what they can wear, and how they identify?
ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
We need to work harder than we ever have before. We need to build a megaphone so these kids and their advocates can be loud voices on protecting trans rights. This bill is beyond damaging and we can’t let it pass the Senate… We just can’t.
