The Trump administration has continued its campaign against immigrants unabated by the impeachment inquiry. Just recently, he promoted Chad Wolf, architect of the family separation policy, to be the top Homeland Security undersecretary. Since Trump can’t be bothered with asking for congressional approval for actual cabinet positions anymore, Wolf is now the de facto DHS chief. And his heinous policy is still in place, no matter how well the administration’s tried to bury it and change it.
Even though lower courts have ruled consistently against his illegal decision to end DACA and set up DREAMers for deportation, the president took his appeal to the Supreme Court last month. Trump’s lawyers made it clear they intend to end the program and deport nearly a million people one way or another.
This drastic step would devastate communities across the country and hurt those who are simply trying to live their lives in the only country they’ve known. They are our neighbors, friends, and family members. They are our teachers, co-workers, and strangers on the street worthy of safe and happy lives.
