When corporate Super PACs are spending millions against us, it’s just the reality that we need more money.

Justice Democrats

John, after the latest wave of progressive primaries, we saw this piece — and we couldn’t agree more.

Headline from Salon reads To keep winning, progressives must do more than grassroots organizing: we need money. Sub-headline reads Summer Lee's victory shows how progressives can beat super PACs: by fighting - and winning - the money war

Corporate Super PACs affiliated with AIPAC, Silicon Valley billionaires, and corporate Democrats in Washington will continue spending millions against our candidates, just like they did against Summer Lee and Jessica Cisneros. We have no choice but to increase the amount of grassroots funding we have on the progressive side.

Despite $3 million of right-wing foreign policy hawk money spent against Summer, her fundraising and our progressive coalition’s resources kept her within roughly a 2-to-1 spending disadvantage. Summer and our coalition spent a little over $2 million on her primary, while corporate Democrats and billionaires spent about $4.5 million against us.

Here’s the reality: the Democratic establishment was caught off-guard when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated the 4th most powerful Democrat in the House in 2018. They were still on their heels when Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman defeated corporate Democrats in 2020. They are not taking us for granted any longer, John.

Our next primary is on June 28th, when Kina Collins takes on a corporate Pelosi-backed 26-year incumbent Democrat in Chicago. Super PACs are already spending big money against Kina. And corporate donors helped her opponent raise over $400,000 last quarter. We need your help to win this race.

This is such a critical moment for our movement. Can you split a donation to Kina’s campaign and Justice Democrats to make sure we can win this race? If we collectively can fund just 50% of what corporate Democrats are spending on this race, we know we can be competitive.
