Friend --
Next week, join us for the Big
Bernie Weekend! We are only 3 months away from the
California Primary (& 2 months from the drop of mail-in ballots)
so we have a long weekend full of Bernie events to rally the East Bay
& build our movement!
Bernie Sanders is fighting for the
bold change we need: Medicare for All, College for All, Housing for
All, the Green New Deal and taxing the wealthy. Bernie is the only
candidate working to build a multiracial, working-class movement to
take the White House. Come join us next weekend and help grow the
revolution one conversation at a time!

Knock Doors for Bernie and the Green New
Deal for Public Housing
DeFremery Park aka Little Bobby Hutton Park
1651 Adeline Street, Oakland
As part of our Big Bernie Weekend,
we are spreading the word about the Green New Deal for Public Housing
- Bernie’s bill to upgrade and decarbonize federal public housing in
the U.S.! Buildings are responsible for one-third of U.S. carbon
emissions; this bill will retrofit the nation’s 1.2 million federally
administered homes to make them carbon-neutral. That would be the
equivalent of taking 1.2 million cars off the road.
This is not just a crucial path to
preventing climate change: it would also greatly improve the lives of
public housing residents. According to the Urban Institute, public
housing is in disrepair, and is in need of “major capital repairs like
new windows, plumbing, roofs, and heating systems to keep it
operational”. Lead pipes would finally be replaced, and necessary
repairs would be made. Energy-saving retrofits would reduce the costs
of public-housing water bills by 30%, and energy costs by
70%.
In addition, it prioritizes hiring
public housing residents to work on the improvements, and repeals the
HUD ban on funding new public housing!
Sunday,
December 8th 2:00-5:00PM
Knock Doors for Bernie
4799 Shattuck Ave, Oakland
We will be wrapping up our December
General Meeting (and our Big Bernie Weekend) by canvassing our
neighbors! Our campaign is also rapidly approaching 10,000 doors
knocked in just two short months. We’re very likely to hit the
milestone at this canvass — but we’ll need every volunteer we can get
to make it happen. Stick around after the General Meeting for the
canvass!
