John, corporate-backed Super PACs have spent more money against Justice Democrats this year than ever before. They tried to take down Summer Lee with over $3 million in attack ads, but we won. They tried to take down Jessica Cisneros with millions more, but we’re still locked in a tight race in TX-28 that will likely go to a recount.
Now, the establishment is going after Justice Democrat and incumbent Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
This Super PAC is backed by Wall Street, foreign policy hawks, and members of the Democratic establishment. They want to defeat Rashida because she unapologetically stands up for the rights of workers and all those struggling to get by in this country. She’s a civil rights lawyer, economic justice advocate, and the only Palestinian-American member of Congress. Rashida’s fight for the people makes her a big target for the political establishment.
This is another case of the Democratic Party wasting massive amounts of money targeting progressives instead of directing resources towards defeating the GOP or uplifting candidates who support progress for the people. Rashida has been one of the fiercest advocates for the people in the U.S. House, and that’s what scares the establishment, John.
The Democratic Party would rather light money on fire to oppose the Squad than use it towards keeping the Democratic majority.
The unlimited corporate money machine funding the political establishment wants to keep things just the way they are — they don’t want Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, full student debt cancellation, progressive foreign policy, or a wave of workers unionizing. Wall Street and the mega-donors funding the Democratic Party want to keep maximizing their profits while the people suffer.
Our work continues on and we have so much to do. We can only do all of it with your help.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
