Today: K-12 AANHPI Curriculum Project Workshop Launch!
Today will be the soft launch of OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocate's K-12 Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Curriculum Project Workshop to cap the end of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! This 90-minute workshop will feature a panel of educators and advocates who will discuss the importance of including AANHPI studies in K-12 education, the development of new and exciting AANHPI lesson plans, and ways to incorporate curriculum into K-12 classrooms across the U.S. For the second half of the workshop, one of our very own curriculum designers will conduct a live walkthrough of a pilot lesson created specifically for this project. We will also share updates on our soon-to-be-released database—you don't want to miss it! Please register here ([link removed]) .

Support OCA's K-12 AANHPI Curriculum Project!
Our K-12 Task Force is working hard to ensure that OCA is one of the leaders in pushing culturally relevant curricula in our nation's schools. We are in the final stages of completing our project where we will host a database of AANHPI curricula that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive in classrooms nationwide in collaboration with the student-run organization Diversify Our Narrative and The 1882 Foundation.

Getting that curriculum into classrooms depends on your support. Today is the last day of our Give in May campaign, and one way you can show up for the students, parents, educators, and advocates leading this effort: donating to OCA's Give in May campaign ([link removed]) !

5G and Future Technological Innovations:
The expanding deployment of 5G wireless technology will revolutionize mobile and home broadband by delivering dramatically increased speed and bandwidth. And innovative 10G technology, being developed by the cable industry, will provide another leap forward.
What kinds of disruptions and transformations will these and/or other newer technologies, on the horizon, bring? How can we ensure underserved communities have access to the benefits and opportunities created by technological innovation?
On June 1st, 2022 at 4pmEST, join ALLvanza, MMTC, OCA and other policy experts for a discussion on the current state of 5G wireless and the future of Cable 10G and other innovative technologies. Together we will explore the following questions:
• What is 5G/10G?
• What are the challenges and opportunities presented by 5G/10G/other technologies?
• How does cutting-edge technological innovation impact underserved communities?
The Moving Underserved Communities Forward event series—hosted by ALLvanza, the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC), and OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates—brings together diverse leaders to discuss technology and telecommunications policy issues facing underserved communities. Our goal is to create a venue where new ideas can blossom into programs, partnerships, or policy strategies capable of providing meaningful solutions to urgent challenges. By convening diverse thought leaders to tackle some of our toughest problems, we are ensuring policymakers have a better understanding of the issues and possible solutions, making positive change for minority communities in the U.S. and creating a more equal nation where all people have an equal shot at the American dream.
