In an official statement just this week, Justice Kavanaugh signalled that he would be the Supreme Court’s fifth and deciding vote to overturn generations of precedent and dismantle the EPA’s ability to regulate corporate pollution.
This couldn’t come at a more dangerous time. The Supreme Court could gut the EPA’s ability to set regulations as early as the next term, which means even if Democrats take back the White House in 2020, we’d also need to hold the House majority and flip the Senate in order to ensure the conservative Court wouldn’t overturn the new president’s attempts to fight climate change.
A recent U.N. report on climate change revealed the devastating likelihood that our inaction has doubled how much the Earth’s temperature will rise by the end of the century unless we take immediate action.
