John, we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said earlier this week about the Democratic Party and TX-28.
Nancy Pelosi and the establishment did everything they could to stop Jessica Cisneros and re-elect anti-abortion, pro-NRA Henry Cuellar. This can’t be the way forward for the Democratic Party.
Read our message from earlier this week below and donate if you can.

Subject: AOC on TX-28
John, the race between Justice Democrat Jessica Cisneros and conservative Democrat Henry Cuellar in TX-28 is too close to call. But Cuellar leads by 177 votes.
Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party did everything it could to stop Jessica. As the votes came in last night, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez put things into perspective:
Pelosi and the rest of House leadership went all in for the anti-choice, NRA "A-rated" Cuellar. Cuellar is everything the Democratic Party SHOULD oppose, yet he got fundraising support from leadership and Pelosi sent robocalls directly to voters for Cuellar.
As AOC also said, Congress shouldn’t be an incumbent protection racket — especially when the incumbent is against protecting abortion rights and against stronger gun laws to reduce the rampant gun violence in this country.
The corporate political establishment spent millions on those 177 votes.
Democratic mega-donor and billionaire Reid Hoffman’s "Mainstream Democrats PAC" spent $750,000 against Jessica. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s Super PAC spent $2 million to protect Cuellar. And that’s just the beginning — Wall Street, Big Oil, and the Koch Brothers funded Cuellar’s multi-million dollar campaign account.
The unlimited corporate money machine funding the political establishment may have squeaked out this win for Cuellar with the help of the top four Democrats in the House. All to stop Jessica, a progressive fighter who wants Medicare for All, action to avert climate catastrophe, abortion rights, and stronger gun laws. The Democratic establishment wanted to stop progress for the people in this race.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
