We are almost in tears writing this to you. It is official -
Jamie McLeod-Skinner has officially defeated Representative Kurt Schrader in one of the biggest congressional upsets in recent history.
This is being called the biggest upset in Oregon since 1996, and one of the biggest congressional upsets since 2016.
And it wasn’t even close….Jamie ended up taking the win with 57 percent of the votes!
Our PAC, this community, was the FIRST — that’s right, the first — PAC to support Jamie. With your grassroots dollars, we were able to give her $4,000 directly and sent countless donors and dollars her way through online support. We increased her visibility and helped beat the drum from the beginning all the way through the finish line.
This has been quite the race. We have to admit, even we were stunned that the race would gain the momentum that it did.
And to top it off, our small, scrappy PAC won a nationally recognized, highly competitive congressional race
in our first year in operation.
How cool is that?! Pretty darn cool if you ask us.
We just wanted to say how grateful we are for all of you and how proud we are of our people-powered campaign. A grassroots army defeated Kurt Schrader, a 20-year incumbent and the worst Democratic member in the US House of Representatives. We are still processing what this means. But it’s huge. The progressive movement is alive and well and we are NOT going away anytime soon.
This moment right is why we do what we do. We run 100 times to get a Jamie, Shenise, a Peter, Angie, and Ed across the finish line— our other progressive candidates who won our first year as a PAC, beating out entrenched incumbents from Galesburg to Pittsburgh to Dayton.
Jamie is the change we need and she is a true representation of what a Democrat should be: progressive, genuine, and a fighter for working people.
With that, let’s keep pushing forward — the fight is never over. We may have won this one but we have many more Primary battles to fight in June in both California and Nevada.
