TODAY: The non-partisan analysts at the Cook Political Report have downgraded Democrats' chances of keeping CA-49 blue. According to their report, redistricting gave Republicans a slight advantage, but the explosion in outside dark money planned against Mike puts us at risk.

Here's how things have progressed so far in 2022:

After redistricting, analysts predicted that Democrats could be on pace to lose 15-25 House seats. Quickly after, we got word that Kevin McCarthy put Mike's district in CA-49 at the very top of their list of targets.

Then, House Democrats confirmed they will be "centering their defensive efforts" on Mike's district -- a strong signal they see us as being on the "frontline" in defending the House Majority.

Last month, a McCarthy-aligned super PAC pledged to spend at least $1.6 million in attack ads against Mike in the San Diego media market. The goal? Weaken his standing with swing voters. They also suggested more spending can be coming our way.
