What we witnessed in Uvalde on Tuesday is a devastating tragedy that no family should ever have to go through. My heart is breaking for the victims and survivors of Robb Elementary.

I am sending my condolences to the children and families in Uvalde who are experiencing this unthinkable tragedy. Our children, teachers, and our communities deserve better than this. We deserve to feel safe in the spaces we occupy, free from the fear of gun violence.

This is a devastating tragedy. How many more mass shootings do children have to experience before we say enough? Our elected officials must take action and finally pass common-sense gun reforms like background checks and banning weapons of war.

I will always put the safety of our community first, and unlike Henry Cuellar, I pledge not to take a dime from the NRA or the gun lobby.

Together, we will challenge the normalization of tragic loss caused by gun violence by changing laws and closing loopholes to keep guns out of the hands of those at the highest risk of violence.
