Indivisibles,
Tomorrow (Tuesday), more primary elections will take place in Texas and
Georgia. In a key race, Indivisible-endorsed candidate Jessica Cisneros
will take on Henry Cuellar in a run-off election for Texas’ 28th
   Congressional District.
Cisneros started this campaign as the underdog, going up against an
entrenched, nine-term incumbent with ties to the fossil fuel industry.
But, in forcing a run-off, she has shown just what the power of determined
   progressives can do.
Tomorrow’s election will pit the last anti-choice Democrat in Congress up
against a progressive challenger committed to fight to protect human
rights, save our planet, defend democracy, and secure a thriving future
   for working class families.
In a time when we are watching Roe be attacked by Republicans, Cisneros’
election would be a clear reminder of where we stand as a party -- united
   for choice.
If you’re in Texas or Georgia, tomorrow’s your chance to make your voice
heard. Make sure to get to the poll to ensure they hear you loud and
   clear.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

                              Your 3 weekly to-dos
    1. [ [link removed] ]Sign up here to get involved in our Give No Ground program to
defeat Republican extremism in November. Tomorrow’s elections aren’t
the last ones! Our first line of defense against racism, homophobia,
misogyny, and other noxious brands of conservative extremism is
through policy – and to get that power, we need a stronger, wider
majority. When we do not fully commit ourselves to electing more
progressive representatives, Republicans gain power. And when
Republicans gain power, we all lose. Sign up now to do everything you
can to ensure a win for progressives in November.
    2. [ [link removed] ]Click here to support the Buffalo Together Community Response Fund.
In response to the hate crime committed at a Tops grocery store in
Buffalo, NY last weekend, the Buffalo Together Community Response Fund
formed and is providing avenues both to help support the families
directly impacted by this terror attack and to also support the needs
of the larger Buffalo community, as they address the larger systemic
issues that have marginalized people of color.
    3. [ [link removed] ]Click here to access a list of local abortion funds where you
should donate. When Roe falls, 26 states are in line to criminalize
abortion with 13 of those states already having laws on the books that
impose that change immediately. The demand on local abortion funds
will increase immediately with some Americans needing to travel
hundreds of miles in order to make a personal medical decision. Let’s
continue to make sure these funds are set up to support any and
       everyone who needs an abortion.
We rely on your support to keep call pages up and running, fund ads to get
the word out, and continue all the work we’re doing this year. Help us
continue this work and keep Republicans from gaining control of congress
by [ [link removed] ]donating here to help fund our work.

Remembering George Floyd and Recommitting Ourselves
Content Warning: This section of the Newsletter discusses police violence,
racism, and racialized violence against Black people.
This Wendesday marks the two-year anniversary of the murder of George
Floyd by Derek Chauvin -- the tragic event which sparked both nationwide
unrest and a long overdue call to action on racial justice in this
   country.
   Where are we today?
As we saw last weekend, calls for progress on racial justice have been met
with hostility both in policy and on an individual level. People like the
Buffalo shooter double down on conspiracies like the Great Replacement
Theory wielding terror as a means to cow Black Americans while elected
officials like Ron Desantis waste time signing into law [ [link removed] ]bans on
protesting outside of homes. The combined effect of this multifaceted
strategy is an attempted erasure of any gains made in honor of the victims
of racialized violence ([ [link removed] ]for a chilling look at some visual
representations of this erasure, check out the slides in this Charles Blow
   op-ed).
As we jump from flash point to flash point, from one instance of
unimaginable violence to the next, we often don’t take the time to reflect
on where we stand in terms of progress, missing the larger picture.
According to the Washington Post police shootings database, 2021 was
[ [link removed] ]the most deadly year for police shootings since they began tracking
national statistics in 2015. After protest, awakening, flashes of reform,
and greater national understanding, we find our country still mired in the
same problems without much quantitative evidence of progress.
Racism is so baked into our country’s DNA that even after two years of
protests and calls to action we see much of the same results.
   How do we move forward?
Well, to borrow an always poignant quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
we here at Indivisible believe that, “the arc of the moral universe is
long, but it bends towards justice.” As we ground ourselves in this
belief, we remember that, though the immediate results may look bleak, our
commitment to anti-racism cannot waver. We owe it to George Floyd and
Sandra Bland and Eric Garner and Michael Brown and Tamir Rice and Breonna
Taylor and so many other names we do not even know to continue the work
towards progress and guarantee that we get there.
To begin, especially for our non-Black Indivisibles, re-center yourselves
in the concepts of relational organizing by [ [link removed] ]watching this livestream
from June 2020 on how we can be better allies by holding the hard
conversations (including tips on how to approach those conversations).
As we move forward, we must remember to continually commit and recommit
ourselves to the fight for racial justice. When we give up, when we give
in, when we stop fighting, they win. And, unfortunately, when they win,
people die. We are the ones standing in the way. Don’t step aside.
