Terrible Trump History

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we wanted to do something different and instead highlight several instances in which Donald Trump was racist against people of Asian descent. We believe that this blatant racism and xenophobia should not be forgotten and never allowed to happen again.

As a tactic to shift blame away from his ineffective handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Donald Trump resorted to slurs and unfactual claims to promote hate against Asian Americans and Asian foreigners. Some of the terms he used were: "Kung Flu," "Chinese Virus," and "China Virus."

Trump stokes 'birther' conspiracy theory about Kamala Harris

Back when President Obama was on the campaign trail, Donald Trump was one of the top promoters of blatantly racist birther conspiracies alleging that he had not been born in the United States. In 2020, he again spewed these conspiracy theories to the public, this time about Kamala Harris, a woman who is of both African American and Asian descent.

Trump Mocks The Accents Of Asian Leaders, Angering Asian Americans As They Continue To Veer Left

At a 2019 fundraiser, Trump mocked the accents of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in. As put by Amanda Berg of CPR News, instances like this "make[s] it acceptable to be openly, increasingly discriminating."
