Dear Friend,
This Thanksgiving, I want to pause and take a moment to express our thanks to
you, the friends and supporters who make up our National Trust family.
We’re thankful for your generosity, which is making our lives richer and our
communities stronger. We’re thankful for your vision and dedication to
championing America’s historic places as essential connections to our past and
meaningful guides to our future.
And most of all, we’re thankful for the faith you place in us, as we stand
together to save our past and enrich our future. In this spirit of friendship
and family, I wanted to share a favorite recipe from my own family’s table, my
grandmother’s sweet potato casserole.

For me, it recalls the big Thanksgiving dinners of my childhood, with my aunts,
uncles, and 14 cousins gathered around the table at Granny and Grandpop’s 1905
Victorian on our family farm in Georgia. It was there that I first understood
the power of tradition and place to anchor our lives and nourish our souls.
As you gather for Thanksgiving this year, may you know the sense of belonging
that comes from being connected to our heritage and rooted in the places we
love. Heartfelt thanks for your support and happy Thanksgiving from all of us at
the National Trust!
Warm regards,
Kimberly Skelly
Chief Development Officer
