And of course, Congressional Republicans have proven to have a deep bench of stupid. But that’s not the most disturbing result from last night’s elections.

In Pennsylvania, the stakes have been set for one of the most critical fights of this election season. Trump and the MAGA mob got exactly who they wanted for their Gubernatorial nominee: Doug Mastriano, an extremist former state senator and Big Lie evangelist.

But it gets worse. Mastriano wasn’t just one of the MAGA lunatics pushing election lies from behind his keyboard. He funded buses to shuttle insurrectionists to the January 6th rally and even attended the rally himself. And he hasn’t met a QAnon theory he doesn’t like.

He is the ultimate new brand of unrestrained MAGA authoritarianism, and if it doesn’t scare you enough that he’s one close election away from the governor’s office, get this: In PA, the governor chooses the secretary of state. That means if Mastriano wins, a Trump diehard will be appointing the person running Pennsylvania’s elections in 2024.

There’s no other way of saying it, Friend. The PA governor race will help decide the future of American democracy. Mastriano is a walking coup attempt and he could control one of the most important swing states in 2024.
