Dear John,

Families are facing a crisis . Today, about 40% of the most popular brands of baby formula are completely sold out across the country.

I’m a working mom of 2 small children, so I know this baby-formula shortage is a parent's worst nightmare. It’s putting our babies at risk - especially in families who are already struggling to make ends meet.

So today, I wanted to touch base with resources for parents who can’t find formula. Please feel free to share this email and graphic with anyone in need, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.

If you can’t find your brand - check with your baby’s doctor — according to experts [[link removed]] , it is safe for most healthy babies to switch to any F.D.A.-approved baby formula parents can find on the shelves or online from a reputable distributor or pharmacy — but avoid buying from auction sites or overseas for safety reasons.

Don’t dilute your formula to make it last longer, or try to make your own. Formula has important nutrition for your baby, and messing with that delicate balance can have scary side effects - like seizures.

Our children’s health and safety is the most important thing in the world. If you’re a parent struggling with this formula shortage, we are looking into other ways to help and will report back soon.

Sincerely,
Senator Lauren Book
