Last month Brad released a report that found nine months into this fiscal year that less than half of the funds allocated for this year have been spent. At a City Council hearing this week, the Chancellor was asked about Brad’s report and how the DOE plans to make the best use of those funds.
The past two years have been hard for NYC students and teachers. The loss of in person learning, the disruption and loss within school communities and families, the constantly shifting schedules and precautions, have all taken a toll. But we have an incredible opportunity now to invest in our students, an opportunity we cannot waste.
On Monday evening, Brad hosted a conversation with Congressman Jamaal Bowman, State Senator Robert Jackson, Shael Polakow-Suransky from Bank Street, and Smitha Varghese from the Alliance for Quality Education about priorities for a supportive recovery for our students.
