Dear John,

I wanted to forward you the letter-to-the-editor that was recently written by a Nottoway delegate and published in the Blackstone Courier Record. As your representative for the 5th District of Virginia, I recognize the responsibility to put America First in the decisions we make in Washington.
"Dear Editor:

I met a retired Colonel the other evening at a political meeting. He is seeking the Republican nomination in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District against Rep. Bob Good.

I highly respect veterans. I have a long list of them in my extended family. But not all veterans have the same perspective.

Shape changers at their best are those who can sense the heartbeat of a crowd and shape themselves to appear as if they share the same perspectives -- but really don’t.

Dan Moy had a lot to say about Ukraine and America’s support. My daughter-in-law, who is from Ukraine, was the guest speaker and gave a clear view of firsthand knowledge of atrocities occurring in her homeland.

Dan Moy then gave a passionate speech of supporting and helping Ukraine, but something seemed a little off. When asked about our own border disasters, Dan Moy rated us below the crisis in Ukraine.

I have a personal interest in helping Ukrainians and will always support our efforts to protect and provide for their safety. It’s about preserving their freedoms that they so valiantly fought for and which they continue to fight for today to keep themselves shed of Putin’s Communism.

The Colonel responded to my concern of open U. S. borders nonchalantly, saying we’ve had people crossing our borders for years.

I responded, “But not to this magnitude.”

He was a bit argumentative, assuring me it’s less of a problem than we think. I then informed him of my age and assured him that I have never, ever seen such blatant illegal border crossings to this extent in my lifetime!

He disagreed with me and then said, shrugging his shoulders, “It’s only 7,000 people a day.” It was a complete brush- off of my concerns as he
zeroed in on the war in Ukraine.

I think it was a sly way of speaking the truth but minimizing its impact: 7,000 a day computes to more than two million illegals a year!

I would like to ask Dan Moy, “In light of the threat of Title 42 (the COVID-19 border policy) being canceled, is it now a crisis to you? How do you shrug that off, while defending another country’s border. Our border crisis is just as important as Ukraine’s survival. I can only hope and pray we will have the same tenacity of the Ukrainians as we fight this internal war in America.

If America is weakened from within -- as we see happening every day -- then how will we be able to help anyone, including Ukraine?

Removing the titles of Republican and Democrat, I am uncomfortable with some of the perspectives of Dan Moy -- just as I was with Abigail Spanberger.

Today that line is truly blurred, and we have to look beyond the parties and see the real intent of the person -- not their title.

Jeanne E.
Nottoway County Republican Committee"
I look forward to seeing you at the Convention, next Saturday, May 21. Thank you again for the trust you have placed in me!

God Bless,

Bob
