They’re at it again, Friend.
Dragging us back decades, trying to force Americans into a world that never even existed. There’s nothing they won’t do to maintain total control over the status quo. They want to divide us because chaos means more power for Republicans.
No, I’m not talking about McConnell or Trump.
Not this time.
I’m talking about the giant corporations who are giving to lawmakers that support the dangerous plans to roll back rights taking place across the country. Corporations that claim to value diversity, inclusion, and modernity are putting fuel in the tank of Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy.
Losing their self-governing status didn’t stop Disney from pitching in to the Authoritarian Elections Fund (I’m calling it this until further notice, because if they won’t call it what it is, I sure as hell will).
And it’s no surprise that Anthem – yeah, the healthcare conglomerate – wouldn’t mind dropping family planning services…and with Republicans now promising to ban birth control as well as abortion, I have to ask what ****ing century they’re living in.
But Google, Uber, T-Mobile, eBay? They’re funding the GOP as well. What have they got to gain?
To them it’s more like what have they got to lose?
They’ve got the market share. No one used Myspace or hails a cab with their thumb anymore. They think we’re stuck with these services that have become integral to everyday American life. They think their customers and consumers are trapped and just don’t care.
But you know what else they’re trying to stick us with? The authoritarian jackasses who keep popping up around the country trying to out-MAGA one another, trying to make their dreams of becoming the local overlords of children’s books, civil rights, even women’s rights – even the right to vote – a reality. They even want to slap warning labels on television and movies that dare to show LGBTQ characters.
This is Trumpism in action, folks. The fight this fall isn’t just against the morons running for office. It’s against the money behind them. That’s why we need you with us.
Become a monthly supporter through the end of the election cycle – that’s only 6 months – and make a difference today. <[link removed]>
Last time I checked, Toyota wasn’t stroking us a check. Neither is AT&T. Not that we’d take their money. But those fat corporate checks are funding the people trying to take down our democracy.
It’s up to us to fight back. Remember, they’re counting on your complacency. Our democracy can’t afford it.
