This week has been a whirlwind, to say the least. I just had a few moments to gather my thoughts and wanted to share what’s on my mind, in light of the renewed fight to protect abortion access in this country.

Here it is: Either we give this fight everything we have, or we fall short and risk a GOP takeover of the House under “Speaker McCarthy.”

I shuddered just typing that because I fear what that means for our communities. I fear what it means for LGTBQ families, for women, for immigrant families, for Americans living below the poverty line…it is an outcome that would set our country back decades. Under a “Speaker McCarthy,” Democrats will never have the opportunity to codify Roe into federal law.

But I will tell you this now: I will not have it. I will not bow to this attack on our rights. As long as I am in Congress, I will give my all to protect abortion access for current and future generations – but I can only do that with the support of my community.
