Last week, Politico alerted the nation that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade. Experts on the issue, like the Guttmacher Institute and Planned Parenthood, warn that the effects of this will be devastating and catastrophic to our society.

In the face of millions of people losing the right to bodily autonomy, basic healthcare, and potentially their lives, the Treason Caucus and their Republican extremist friends have been celebrating.

But we’re not surprised. These people have a long history of putting their draconian beliefs over the lives of their constituents. Here are just a few of the most sexist, ignorant, and destructive things they have said:

Ted Cruz "Pregnancy is not a life-threatening illness, and the abortion pill does not cure or prevent any disease."

While pregnancy is not an illness, it CAN be life-threatening, and no person should have to go through with an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion has saved countless lives and allowed people the choice to plan their life as they see fit.

Matt Gaetz "How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?”

The protections from Roe have benefited people from all walks of life, including intelligent activists who enjoy a nice night in cuddling with their cat. Access to reproductive rights has shown to improve the quality of life for all people in society and ensure better outcomes for future generations.

Lauren Boebert "[Rape survivors] needed a ‘Glock 19’ instead of abortion rights."

Last September, Lauren Boebert blamed rape survivors and suggested that instead of an abortion, they carry a firearm. Rhetoric that places the blame on the survivor is not just disgusting and regressive, it's dangerous.
