Friend,

This one isn’t a hard question.

Who do YOU think should pay more in taxes?

For decades, Republicans have successfully weaponized the argument that “Democrats will raise your taxes.”

Now, Rick Scott - who’s in charge of the National Republican Senatorial Committee - wants to raise taxes on nearly every working-class American. You know, the ones who usually vote GOP for lower taxes.

The GOP is ceding a massive, massive advantage to satisfy their authoritarian billionaire funders and we have to take advantage of it. And they are counting on us to be asleep at the wheel and let it happen.

We will not. Many of you have asked – what is The Lincoln Project going to actually do to beat the authoritarian mob this year?

We just dropped a new ad that makes the choice for voters very clear. I want to take a minute and explain why. Who do you think should pay more in taxes? You, or billionaires? Not in overly complicated language. Not in a way that makes this a referendum on every issue under the sun. Higher taxes, yes or no?

Let me give you an example. Joe Biden won Wisconsin by roughly 20,600 votes in 2020. That’s a fraction of the vote in the suburbs of Milwaukee or Madison. There are hundreds of thousands of soft GOP supporters in those areas.

It comes down to this: Do you think that more or less than 20,600 Republican voters in Wisconsin would choose higher taxes or lower taxes? Who do you trust to inform them about their choice?

You will hear this a lot from us this summer and fall. Remember: Not a referendum. A choice. Do you want the authoritarians in charge? This is what they are going to do. Yes or no?

For every American, their votes this fall are their answer.

What’s it gonna be?

Thank you for all that you do.
