I went to the Supreme Court on Monday night just moments after news broke that the conservative majority will reportedly overturn Roe v. Wade.

Let’s be clear about this: Roe wasn’t the beginning of women getting abortions. It was the end of women dying from unsafe abortions.

I’m frustrated that we have had nearly 50 years to write reproductive freedom into federal law. Now, Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House — and we still haven’t gotten this done.

This week’s leak could be Democrats’ last warning before the Supreme Court strips millions of Americans of their constitutional right to choose. It’s time for us to stop treating abortion rights as an afterthought, end the filibuster, and codify Roe. If we don’t, more women will die.

That’s exactly why I went to the Supreme Court Monday night — because Wisconsin has a U.S. Senator who specifically asked the Court to overturn Roe, and if the latest report is true, they’re about to do just that.

We must replace Ron Johnson with someone who’s going to fight like hell to defend our reproductive rights.
