Mike Bloomberg: From the Bullpen

John,

The draft opinion leaked from the Supreme Court this week confirmed what many have long feared: the conservative majority is poised to turn back the clock on women's rights by two generations.

This morning, Mike published an opinion piece that calls on Congress to codify women's fundamental rights, and urges voters to hold elected officials accountable for protecting reproductive freedoms.

"Freedom for women is not merely equality under the law with men," writes Mike. "It is the autonomy and authority to be in control about when and whether to have a child." Should the draft decision stand, women's freedom will be determined state-by-state -- an approach, Mike notes, that aligns abortion opponents with previous movements that fought against abolition, integration, and interracial and same-sex marriage.

Several states have already passed or proposed extremist laws showing what the world could look like when Roe falls, including extreme prohibitions against abortion even in cases of rape incest, or when the mother's life is at risk.

It is time for Congress to act. And time for voters to hold elected officials accountable for their actions on women's rights. As Mike writes: "The ballot, not the bench, is the ultimate arbiter of freedom."

Will you take a moment to read Mike's message -- and share it to join the call for Congress and voters to stand up for women?
