Happy Cinco de Mayo, John!

Almost 160 years ago, the emperor of France chose to carve out a slice for the French Empire in the Americas by invading Mexico with one of the biggest armed forces seen at that time. And on May 5th, 1862, a small force of 2,000 Mexicans chose to defend their beloved country against the threat of oppression and won .

Today reminds us that when people join forces for a cause they believe in, they are unstoppable. We know that in November, we're going to be facing off against the most corrupt and affluent parts of the Republican party. They'll be throwing millions and millions of dollars into this election and they won't be above using shady tactics to make sure that the Treason Caucus stays in power.

But we are ready to take them on, John. We believe in the spirit of our mission, we believe in the power of American democracy, and we believe in YOU.

Democracy isn't an abstract concept –– it needs and deserves faithful stewards and robust protections. Much like the brave defenders of Puebla on Cinco de Mayo, democracy needs people to take action and invest in protecting it.
