“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled” said Justice Alito.

Brian Sims for State Representative

The Supreme Court is on the brink of striking down Roe v. Wade, according to a leaked draft opinion.

This is outrageous, John.

Overturning Roe v. Wade is a direct attack on women’s and reproductive rights. For decades, conservatives have chipped away at reproductive freedom. Pennsylvania Republicans have repeatedly introduced anti-abortion legislation during my 10 years in the General Assembly. I’ve fought them at every turn, and thanks to Democratic Governor Tom Wolf’s veto power, the right to an abortion is still strong here in Pennsylvania.

But in 13 other states, conservative legislatures have passed “trigger laws” that will immediately ban abortions once the Supreme Court’s decision is final. Now, more than ever, we need abortion protections grounded in federal law and Congress must act.

The Women’s Health Protection Act was passed by the U.S. House last fall and now lies waiting in the U.S. Senate. If passed, this legislation would protect a person’s right to an abortion as well as protect abortion providers, no matter what state they live in.

I’m a staunch advocate for reproductive freedom and I believe that the state you live in should not impact your freedoms and rights. If you’re with me, then sign my petition today calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.
