BRIDGING DIVIDES IN AMERICA

May 17, 2022 | 12:00 p.m. EDT

America’s divisions threaten our national security and ability to address critical challenges. A recent NBC News poll ([link removed]) found that 70 percent of Americans agree that we’ve become so polarized we can’t solve major issues. In listening sessions held around the country, the American Academy’s bipartisan 'Our Common Purpose' Commission heard despair about Americans' lack of trust in one another, but also a yearning for connection and inspiring stories of local efforts to bridge differences. What can be done to address divisions in America, foster connection, and build capacity for civic bridging?

The Academy invites you to join a discussion with members of Congress, leaders in national security, and experts in bridging divides. They will discuss what is at stake and share promising solutions.
