In a post-Roe America, ballot measures are our last line of defense

Hey there,

It’s Hannah, the Campaigns Director for the Fairness Project. By now you’ve likely heard the news on Roe — the Supreme Court is poised to gut the landmark law that guarantees abortion rights to millions across the country.

At the Fairness Project, our mission is simple: Help as many progressive ballot measure campaigns win every election cycle as possible. But we have limited resources, and part of my job is deciding which campaigns we can support.

Earlier this year, we decided to invest in a first-of-its-kind ballot measure campaign in Michigan to proactively protect reproductive rights and abortion access. And with the latest news, we’re ready to put every resource we can behind other ballot measures like our campaign in Michigan to codify reproductive rights in states that could lose access once Roe is formally overturned.

But with just 7 months until the November midterms and primaries in many states just around the corner, our slate of 2022 campaigns is stacked and many of our resources have been allocated for the cycle. If you can, will you donate whatever you can today to help us run more campaigns like our fight in Michigan to protect abortion access in a post-Roe America?

Friend, we knew Roe was on the chopping block, and now with this leaked news, our worst fears have become reality.

SCOTUS’ leaked opinion has made it clear: If we want to protect our reproductive rights, we need to do it ourselves.

The path forward is in the states. I’ve seen the polling, and I know how these things go. I know we can win this campaign in Michigan, and with your help, I know we can run and win ballot measures in other states to proactively protect abortion access too. But we can’t do it without your help.

Please, if you can will you donate whatever you can afford to fuel our work today so that we can build more resources and run more campaigns like the one in Michigan to codify reproductive rights this November?
