Indivisibles,
Last night we got the news we’ve been dreading: A [ [link removed] ]leaked draft from the
Supreme Court appears to show that the conservative majority is planning
   to overturn Roe v. Wade.
If you’ve been paying attention to the Republican Supreme Court these past
few years, you knew this was coming. Knowing didn’t make it any easier.
And frankly, we thought we had at least a few more weeks to plan our
response. We’re scrambling resources, plans and actions today, and we’ll
loop back with more info soon, but here’s what you need to know right now:
     * An unelected conservative majority on the Supreme Court, appointed by
two presidents who both lost the popular vote, is going to overturn 50
years of precedent and end our right to an abortion.
     * Losing Roe puts thousands, if not millions, of people at risk – and it
particularly impacts low-income people, people of color, and women.
     * This opinion officially relegates people who can get pregnant to
second-class citizenship, unable to choose for ourselves how they want
       to live our lives.
     * The Supreme Court is no longer an institution we can count on to
expand constitutional rights. Their goal now is to roll back and
restrict the rights we’ve all fought so hard for. This opinion signals
the Republican Supreme Court’s intention to overturn marriage
equality, end access to contraception, gut protections for people of
       color, and more.
Something that’s particularly important to understand: Your rights are not
safe even if you live in a Blue state. They are coming for abortion rights
and every other constitutional right we hold dear, in all 50 states.
It would be easy to despair today – and if you’re like us, you might want
to do that for a while. But there are things we can do. We’ll be looping
back with more details about events and calls in the next few days, but
for now, here are four quick action items:
    1. If you need an abortion right now, Roe is still the law of the land.
This is likely to change quickly, but this is a leaked document, not
the final ruling. If you need care, check with a doctor or clinic. If
you have an appointment in the coming days, go to it. And if you want
to support access to abortion and other crucial healthcare, [ [link removed] ]here’s
a list of abortion funds you can donate to.
    2. Ensure we win in November. The only way, long term, to take back the
Supreme Court is to protect and expand a Democratic majority in the
House and Senate and hold the White House. [ [link removed] ]Sign up here to get
involved with Give No Ground, our campaign to protect our majorities,
then [ [link removed] ]chip in $10 or more to fund all of that work.
    3. Start talking to everyone you know about the extremist Republican
Supreme Court. 75% of people and 53% of Republicans believe the choice
to get an abortion should be between a pregnant person and their
doctor. The extremists on the Supreme Court clearly don’t think so,
and we need everyone in the country to know that Republicans like
Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins agree with them and got us into this
       mess.
    4. Show up to your local court at 5pm today. All over the country, at the
Supreme Court and federal district courts, we're asking everyone to
rally at 5pm today, May 3, local in town squares, in front of federal
courthouses, and the Supreme Court to declare #BansOffOurBodies and
abortion is health care. Can't make it today? Over the next few days,
we’ll be supporting and coordinating with partners like Planned
Parenthood, NARAL, MoveOn, UltraViolet, and others to plan mass
mobilizations and other actions. We’ll share those plans via email and
text message. (If you’re not on our rapid response text team, text
INDIVISIBLE to 59798, and we’ll get you set up.)
We dread the times when we have to send emails like this. But there is
always, always, a light to follow. Time and time again, activists like you
and I have held each other through moments of despair, then joined hands,
picked up phones, showed up to rallies, and fixed things. We’ve won tough
campaigns before. We’ve beaten impossible odds before.
   We’ll do it again, together.
In solidarity, and fury, and hope,
   Indivisible Team
