Team–
I’m sure by now you’ve seen the headlines, but some of our worst fears have been confirmed. Politico is reporting that a draft majority opinion shows the Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights.
We have long been preparing for this moment here in Washington. While we watched Republicans across the country ban abortion,, we took a stand to prioritize the expansion and protection of critical reproductive healthcare. If these news reports are true and Roe falls, over a dozen states are poised to block patients from accessing their essential freedoms.. Washington must remain a beacon for healthcare access.
I am proud that the people of Washington voted to enshrine the right to abortion in our constitution over two decades ago, and I am proud of the work we continue to do in Olympia to strengthen access and remove barriers to essential healthcare. We must continue to prioritize reproductive justice. Today’s news shows that our rights can be overturned if we don’t stay vigilant and prioritize the fight against the extremism we’ve seen all the way from the Supreme Court down to Republicans here in Washington — because we know they won’t stop here.
This isn’t a theoretical exercise. My opponent in this race is a sitting State Representative who has led the charge every single year to make abortion illegal in Washington.
Please get involved in this campaign. We need people who can knock on doors, make phone calls, and host coffee meetings. If you can help in any way, please fill out this form on my website: [link removed] [[link removed]]
Reproductive justice means everyone — no matter who you are, where you live, or what you make — has the freedom to maintain personal autonomy and make healthcare decisions that are right for their lives.
In Olympia, I will continue to fight to ensure that Washington remains a beacon for reproductive freedom, that everyone can access the healthcare they need, and that everyone has the ability to make decisions that are right for themselves and their families..
I hope you will stand with me and help protect our fundamental rights.
In solidarity,
Senator Emily Randall
