Hi Friend,

My name is Catherine Shonack and I’m currently a senior at Georgetown University studying government and history. This spring I’ve had the opportunity to intern for America’s Voice and work with the digital team.

As an intern for America’s Voice, I’ve gotten the chance to create several graphics for social media that helped educate the general public on a variety of topics on immigration, including ones that showed the horrific effects of immigation deterrence policies such as Title 42 and “Remain in Mexico.” As violence began and escalated in Ukraine earlier this year, I put together a graphic showing how we, in the U.S., could help Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country. I also created a graphic showing Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s record on immigration in preparation for her historic confirmation to the United States Supreme Court. More recently, I produced a video explaining the effects of the ineffective “Remain in Mexico” policy, its road to the Supreme Court, and what is at stake as we prepare for the Supreme Court to make a decision on whether or not the Biden Administration can end the policy.

As the daughter of an immigrant, immigration has always been an issue that’s close to my heart. My mother told me stories about the challenges she faced as an immigrant in the United States and all the obstacles she had to overcome in order to gain U.S. citizenship. Growing up I saw many family friends struggle with issues related to their immigration status. As I got older I saw my own friends struggle with it, dealing with the difficulties of limited access to financial aid for college to the deportation of family members. It’s been extremely gratifying to get the opportunity to work in this issue area.

During my short time at America’s Voice, the organization has been working on getting the Biden Administration to end Title 42, keeping track of xenophobic and racist ads published by elected officials and politicians running for office in the upcoming 2022 Midterm Election, and holding the Biden-Harris Administration accountable for following through on their immigration promises. I’m asking you to help us keep the work going so that we can continue to fight for a fair and humane immigration system.

Donate to America’s Voice and help us fight for a better future for immigrants>> [[link removed]]

America’s Voice has been fighting for immigrants across the country for the last 14 years and has no plans of slowing down. The organization continues to work tirelessly to hold members of Congress accountable and ensure immigrant voices are heard at every level of government, to create shareable educational content on immigration policy and to inform supporters like you of all the immigration-related developments so that we can all be better advocates.

Be a part of the collective voice that helps uplift the immigrants that give so much to our country, especially when we need it the most. Any amount you donate will go a long way.
If you can, please donate today>> [[link removed]]

Sincerely,
Catherine Shonack
