🌹 May Day Weekend Recap! 🌹

ATLDSA had a very busy weekend celebrating International Workers Day! Thanks so much to everyone who helped out and attended various rallies and workshops in celebration of workers around the world! For those who missed it, here's a recap of this week's events:

¡Levantémonos Juntos! Last Thursday we joined IUPAT, GLAHR, United Campus Workers, and other groups at Kennesaw State University to stand in solidarity with workers being exploited by AEI Painting Contractors. Take a stand against worker misclassification, intimidation and wage theft by signing their petition!

Solidarity at Stone Mountain: Next, our members also showed up at Stone Mountain early Saturday morning with the NAACP and other groups to protest the racist "Confederate Memorial Day" celebration. It's time we end these racist traditions and tell the truth about Georgia history and the atrocities of the Confederacy!

Workers of the World, Unite! Finally, on Sunday, we hosted a 2-part workplace organizer training at the L5P Community Center with speakers from AFL-CIO and IATSE. Attendees learned about their rights in the workplace including the right to strike and to discuss workplace conditions with coworkers. Learn more using our know-your-rights cheat sheet!

🍴 Douglas Debs Dinner 🍴

For 13 years, Atlanta DSA's Douglass-Debs dinner has brought together Atlanta’s progressive community to honor outstanding role models and leaders, celebrate our accomplishments during the past year, and enjoy an evening of comradeship.

This year, our keynote speaker will be AFL-CIO Southern Regional Director Charles Clark. We will host the 2022 Douglass-Debs Dinner in the IBEW hall on Pulliam Street in downtown Atlanta on Friday, June 3, 2022.

The dinner is a great opportunity to meet with other community activists and hear from inspiring speakers.  Tickets are $50, with reduced-cost tickets available for students and other low-income comrades. We look forward to seeing you there!
