I joined "The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell" on MSNBC, where I discussed how, after national Republicans tried and failed twice to kick me off the ballot, I'm more determined than ever to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) here in Iowa. This win is so crucial for expanding Democratic Senate control – but it's also about standing up for our democracy.

You see, Republicans have taken to attacking our election process from multiple vantage points – which is an attack on the very foundation of our democracy. In Iowa, they tried to kick me off the ballot. Across the country, they've passed voter suppression laws. In the U.S. Senate, so-called leaders like Chuck Grassley defend the former president's attempts to use his DOJ to overturn the 2020 election results.

Hardworking families deserve a senator who’s going to fight to protect our democracy – not spread baseless conspiracy theories and double down on their defense of Trump, like Sen. Grassley. It's no surprise that only 27% of Iowans want to reelect him for an eighth term in the U.S. Senate.

Iowa is ready for and deserves new leadership – and I have every intention of defeating Sen. Grassley. But with Washington Republicans sitting on a war chest of more than $41 million, I simply cannot win without your grassroots support. Can you pitch in $5 – whatever you can spare to flip Iowa blue – before midnight tonight to defend our Democratic Senate majority and protect our democracy?
